Anxiety & Depression Treatment Sydney
Most of us suffer with some sort of emotional or psychological pain.
Unfortunately life throws up some pretty traumatic events for us to deal with like the deaths of loved ones, relationship breakdowns, physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, financial troubles, bullying, abandonment and neglect just to name a few.
Society though is pretty unsympathetic to events and you’re expected to pull yourself together and get on with it as soon as possible. But the problem is you can’t just get on with it. Trauma of any sort can have a lasting and profoundly negative effect on you, whether you realise it or not.
You might not be aware of it but issues you suffer from could be symptoms of unresolved trauma. Such as…
- Anxiety
- Panic attacks
- Depression
- Compulsive behaviour and obsessive compulsive behaviour
- Over eating, binge eating and comfort eating
- Weight gain and inability to stick to weight loss programs
- Phobias
- Anger
- Sleep problems
- Irritability
- Concentration problems
- Gut problems like bloating and IBS
Now if you suffer from any of these then some trauma or accumulated traumas you suffered in the past are the underlying cause. The secret to freeing yourself from them lies in being able to release the emotional charge the trauma or traumas has created.
Here’s how it works…
A traumatic experience like the death of a loved one, a physical assault, emotional abuse, bullying, a relationship breakdown, a financial crisis triggers a feeling of danger in you.
This then stimulates stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol to be released by your body causing your stress hormones to shoot up. Then once the event is over your stress hormones should drop down. But if the event is highly emotionally charged then the stress hormones can stay up and you get caught in Fight, Flight, Freeze mode.
Why?
Adrenaline causes your amygdala (a primitive part of your brain) to fire. It shuts down your frontal lobe (the logical part of your brain) and makes you run on instinct. What can happen during a traumatic event or a period of prolonged extreme stress is your hippocampus (the part of your brain responsible for memory) gets overloaded with stress hormones and doesn’t function properly.
It never takes that traumatic event or period of stress and puts it in the past. It stays in the present and as far as your body and unconscious mind know it’s still happening now. And so you get stuck in a loop.
Consciously you know the event has passed but your body and unconscious mind are trapped. Stress hormones continue to be released and your amygdala continues to fire so you get stuck at Fight, Flight, Freeze.
And as long as you are trapped in this loop you are at the mercy of your emotions and self-destructive thoughts and behaviours.
The secret lays in being able to access your unconscious mind and let it know that the traumatic event is over and consign it to the past. This releases the emotional charge of the trauma and breaks the Fight, Flight Freeze loop.
The way you do this is with my powerful “Releases Your Fears” hypnotherapy technique. Using this amazing process I am able to speak directly to your unconscious mind and remove you from the trauma scene to a safe place. Without you having to re-live the trauma!
Once your unconscious mind is restored to a place of calm, strength and control you will feel free, happy and positive about yourself and your life. No more negative thinking, no more self-sabotage and no more internal struggle.
