If you’re a young woman and you’re suffering from acne, weight gain or irregular periods, then you might have been told by your doctor that you have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Or if you have the following symptoms…

• You don’t have a regular 28 day cycle or
• You don’t get a period at all or
• You have acne that hasn’t cleared up after you’ve cleaned up your diet or
• You get cystic acne or
• You can’t lose weight or
• You’re getting facial hair or extra hair growth

You might suspect you have PCOS.

But whichever the case, you’ve no doubt discovered either from your doctor or your own research that the only treatments conventional medicine has to offer you are the contraceptive pill, Metformin and spironolactone.

None of which are natural treatments for PCOS.

So, if you don’t want to take synthetic hormones and pharmaceutical drugs to treat your PCOS, then what can you do naturally?

The GOOD NEWS is that you can do plenty!

Using the contraceptive pill, spironolactone, or Metformin might get rid of your symptoms, sort of, but they don’t actually cure your problem. They just cover up the symptoms.

Despite what doctors might say, the contraceptive pill doesn’t regulate your cycle. Yes, it might cause you to have what seems like a period every month, but it’s not actually a period.

What you’re not told is that the pill shuts down your cycle, not regulate it.

That’s because the contraceptive pill is a contraceptive. It stops you from falling pregnant by stopping you from ovulating. So, whenever you are on the contraceptive pill, you don’t ovulate.

And if you don’t ovulate, you can’t be re-balancing or regulating your hormones. You’re suppressing them.

So then, when you stop the pill, all your problems will return.

Such as your acne. It may come back worse than before because the synthetic hormones you were taking suppressed oil production. So when you stop taking them, you get a rebound effect.

Oil production goes crazy for many months afterwards.

If your period was irregular or non-existent before taking the contraceptive pill, when you stop, there’s no guarantee you’ll continue to get a monthly period.

This is because the signalling between your brain and your ovaries gets all screwed up from the high levels of synthetic hormones contained in the contraceptive pill. They cause you to lose your natural body rhythm. This means that if you want to have a baby in the future, you might find it harder to conceive.

The other disturbing, un-talked-about thing about the contraceptive pill is that the synthetic hormones it contains can actually increase your male sex hormones and make you insulin-resistant.

So, it can worsen your PCOS and weight gain.

Now, if you don’t want to take the contraceptive pill, or you want to stop using the contraceptive pill to deal with your PCOS, then what natural treatments for PCOS are there for you?

A range of herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients can be used. However, each person’s needs are individual.

This is why if you’ve tried Vitex, chromium, zinc, myo-inositol or L-lysine, to name a few, you haven’t fixed your PCOS yet.

The real key to solving your PCOS problem is to pinpoint exactly which of your hormones are out of balance because it’s not always testosterone.

I consult with many young female patients who’ve been diagnosed with PCOS or think they have PCOS because they have all the symptoms of high testosterone levels (cystic acne, irregular periods, weight gain or difficulty shedding body fat). But when they’ve had their testosterone levels checked by the doctor with a blood test, they found that they are normal.

So, I get my patients to do a different test to the regular blood test for testosterone.

I get them to do a saliva hormone test because checking the blood is not always the best way to determine what’s happening to their cells. I find saliva hormone testing gives a better picture of hormone levels around their cells.

Here’s an example of the results from a saliva test…

And it’s not just testosterone that you need to check. Oestrogen and progesterone (your female reproductive hormones) can also be out of balance.

When either or both of these are out of balance, you’ll notice your acne gets worse before your period. And you might experience other menstrual issues like breast tenderness, moodiness, irritability, headaches, sugar/chocolate cravings, period pain or heavy periods.

Here’s an example of testosterone and two different forms of oestrogen being high and progesterone being a low normal.Endocrinology Saliva test result
Another thing that you need to know about PCOS is you don’t have to have cysts on your ovaries to have it. Despite what the name implies, PCOS is a hormone imbalance problem, not an ovarian cyst problem.

So the key for natural treatments for PCOS to work is you need to know what YOUR hormone imbalances are.

Once I know this, I can design a customized natural hormone re-balancing program specific to you.

So, to discover what hormones you have out of balance so you can use the right natural treatments for PCOS, not synthetic hormones or drugs, all you need to do is contact us today and organize a Hormone Imbalance Assessment consultation.

During your 60-minute consultation with me, I will thoroughly assess…

• Your current PCOS and hormone imbalances
• Your diet and exercise habits
• Your previous medical and lifestyle history

Once I’ve done this, I can then determine what saliva tests you’ll need to do to identify, with laser-like accuracy, the hormonal imbalances causing your PCOS issues.

Once I have all this critical information, I can develop an individualised plan to naturally rebalance your hormones so you can have beautiful, clear skin and a dream figure.
